One Year COVID Anniversary

Happy one year COVID anniversary! Not necessarily an anniversary we’d like to celebrate… real anniversaries we would like to celebrate over the last year are 22 years in business and 100 years of the American Physical Therapy Association, our professional membership association, but obviously, COVID turned our worlds upside down. At the same time last year, we were faced with the difficult decision to cancel exercise classes and shut down our 24/7 gym. As movement experts, how do we keep our community moving when we can’t offer these services? Physical therapy continued; however, as COVID progressed, even these services slowed as elective surgeries were on hold and patients, especially those who are compromised, cancelled appointments. As COVID continued, especially into the winter, everyone decreased activity as the Ohio weather doesn’t cooperate for biking, hiking, kayaking, and walking or any exercise outside. Gyms stayed closed and you couldn’t participate in any indoor recreational activities to stay moving like bowling or ice skating.

Now, at the one year anniversary, how can we help? Did you stop exercising? Do you have back or neck pain since you’ve been working from a make shift desk at home? Do you have shoulder, knee, or other joint aches and pains simply from inactivity? It is SAFE to attend physical therapy at our office! We are following all CDC recommendations including regular cleaning, taking temperatures, and wearing masks. If you are not comfortable working with us in the office, we offer telehealth physical therapy over a computer so you can stay safely at home!

Physical therapists are movement experts. We work with patients who are experiencing aches and pains and balance problems. We work with patients post-surgery. We work with patients who are deconditioned due to COVID! We work with patients who simply want to start moving but don’t know exactly where to start. We work with patients of all ages and all activity levels. Physical therapy can help you with basic daily activities, including standing up from sitting, standing long enough to cook or wash dishes, and navigating stairs in the community and our homes. On the opposite end of the spectrum, physical therapy can help with advanced movement including heavy work requirements or returning to sport. At our office, we offer one-on-one appointments to address your concerns, answer your questions, offer hands-on treatment, and progress you towards independence through activity and exercise.

So, what do you want to be celebrating in one year? We are excited to share in the progress with you!
